OUR INITIATIVES

THE CAN FOUNDATION BASIC TENENTS
CREATING INCLUSIVITY IN COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE

The CAN Foundation aims to cultivate inclusivity and equal opportunities for women and minority entrepreneurs within the commercial real estate sector.  Studies reveal that minorities and women own a disproportionately low percentage of commercial real estate properties, with minority-owned businesses accounting for only 18% of all U.S. commercial real estate ownership followed by women-owned businesses with 30% ownership.   Our initiative seeks to break down barriers, offer support, and create a path for women and minorities to harness the potential of commercial real estate ownership for wealth creation and economic empowerment.

CLOSE THE GAP

Homeownership can be a significant factor in the success of small businesses. Owning a home provides entrepreneurs with collateral, which can be used to secure loans and other forms of financing. Additionally, homeownership can help entrepreneurs build personal wealth, which can be reinvested in their businesses. Our initiative aims to help increase homeownership rates among women and minority small business owners. We believe that achieving this goal will help promote greater economic empowerment and success for these groups, and contribute to a more inclusive and equitable business landscape.

BRIDGING THE DIGITAL DISPARITY DIVIDE

The CAN Foundation is committed to bridging the digital disparity divide by addressing the inequities and ensuring equal access to digital resources and opportunities for all. According to recent statistics, women and minorities often face significant disparities in digital access and skills, limiting their ability to fully participate in the digital economy. By addressing this gap, our initiative aims to empower women and minorities by equipping them with the necessary digital skills, knowledge, and resources to capitalize on the wealth creation potential offered by a digital footprint. With a strong digital presence, entrepreneurs can tap into global markets, reach a wider audience, and benefit from the cost-efficiency and scalability of digital platforms.

Minority-owned businesses constitute a mere 18% of all commercial real estate ownership in the United States, with women-owned businesses following at only 30% ownership.
Homeownership rates in black and brown communities continue to trail behind the national average, with African Americans accounting for just 45.8% of homeowners and Hispanics representing only 49.7% of homeowners in 2022.
